Quantity with quality is the motto of the carmakers, which present themselves at the Geneva Autosalon. The vehicles are not only compact but also more fuel-efficient. Exceptions prove the rule.

The 82nd Geneva Motor Show comes up with 180 world and European premieres. Dotz took a fair booth and a look around the premises.

Till March 18th visitors can experience the latest models and technologies from around 30 of the most important car manufacturers in the world.

With a good conscience BMW goes ahead with the i8. In modus of pure electric moving the range of the 2 +2- seated BMW i8 with his nice 550Nm is around 35 kilometers, then the lithium-ion batteries in the center console of the passenger compartment evacuated. Charging at the outlet is estimated less than two hours. Running with the gasoline engine, the BMW i8 will be able to realize a standard fuel consumption of 2.7 liters.

Everyday cars are calling in Geneva the shots. Mercedes brought the new A-Class, which aims, with their new forms, at a younger target audience than before. Besides the three diesels (109 to 170 hp) each petrol engine is equipped with a turbo. Performance ranges from 115 to 211 hp. No model will be less than 20,000 €. Similarities with the known A-class: Zero.

Giving that everyday cars a little pep, some tuners came in Geneva, ABT for instance gave the VW Up a new chassis, headlight covers and a decor set, trimming the car into a “Swinging Sixties" mood.

Something sporty appears next to the Mercedes A-class: the SL 63 AMG takes 564 hp and 900 Newton meters onto the street. It needs a mere 4.2 seconds from zero to 100km/h. 200km/h is reached after 12.6 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250kmh.

Nissan caused a stir with the Infiniti Emerg-e. Thanks to two electric motors, each with 204 hp, the two-seater accelerates faster than a Porsche 911 and consumes less than the VW Up.

Toyota subsidiary Lexus came up with a LF-LC in full hybrid. The dynamic section is to give a foretaste of the future design language at Lexus.

Besides sporting roadworthiness producers in Geneva also show pure athleticism: Citroen took the World Rally Championship car of Sebastien Loeb, which drives the Frenchman with around 300hp since 2010 successfully around the slopes of the world.

The opposite of a modest appearance is the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The 6.2-liter V12 engine boasts with a maximum output of 740 hp. The maximum torque is 690 Nm. The V12 engine is paired with a F1 double-clutch gearbox.

Premiere in Geneva celebrated the Magna Steyr Mila Coupic. The car is a combination of SUV, Coupe and pick-up, the fabric roof of the study can be opened electrically and provides quickly a panoramic roof.

What else got the ladies at the lake to see ...

Radical Koenigsegg: The Agera R 2013 hits the road with 1140 hp. Fueled is - see clear conscience - E85 biofuel. Within 17 seconds, the young Swede accelerates from 0 to 200 miles.

Honda celebrates the revival of the NSX Geneva. In 2015 the sales start. The all new NSX comes with a V6 gasoline engine with sports-hybrid system, including all-wheel drive with 3.7 liters.

Another good examples of the connection downsizing and sportsmanship: Audi shows with the Quattro A1 what is capable within a compact car. In that case: 256HP, 350Nm and acceleration like a big one: 5.7 seconds from 0 to 100km/h tentatively projected average fuel consumption: 8.5 liters.

Toyota brought as a premiere the FT-Bh Concept to Geneva. The cryptic acronym stands for "Future Toyota - B-segment hybrid." The compact machine with a powerful interior should only weigh around 850kg.

As a "Vario Eco-Lounge" mobile Citroen reveal the Tubik. The 4.80 meters long van comes with a variable seat concept. The French take a Hybrid4 drive that combines a diesel engine at the front and an electric engine on the rear axle to form a four-wheel drive together.

Geneva is also every year a playground for the latest Rinspeed study. At the Dock + Go, a retrofitted smart four two, the tail serves not only as storage space, but also carries the additional energy source for the electric drive. Just one thing is for sure at those Rinspeed-studies each year: the rims come from Dotz sister AEZ.
