Festival season is coming up! All over the country the promoters pray to all weather saints for 30 degrees and more and all festival pilgrims look forward to some big days out and partys and concerts without a load of rules.


First big austrian part beneath this credo occurs at Pannonia Fields II in Nickelsdorf next to the hungarian border. From June 11th till 13th there will be a lot of rock and a lot of dirt at Nova Rock 2011. 150.000 fans were coming up last year – this time roughly the same amount is expected. ©FMS


The line-up provides some big names of all genres, from rock to punk, from hard-rock to heavy metal. And those, who take a closer look can spot one or the other drum-’n’-bass and indie-rockband. ©Skalarmusic


Signing new to the festival are Sisters Of Mercy. Besides the promoters have, next to a long awaited reunion, brought everything to Nickelsdorf which is trendy between „House of Pain“ from radiostation FM4 to the punk- and rock-genre. Those, who have seen this band live already, know what to expect. Nothing frumpy, nothing fluffy, a lot of heart and even a bit more pain, especially from frontman Chester Bannington: Linkin Park will headline the first day. ©Linkin Park

One of first days highlights is Flogging Mollys folk-punk. The party animals, leaded by Dave King and skateboard veteran Matt Hensley, will headline a Nova Rock-stage for the first time and present their latest album "Speed of Darkness". ©FMS

Just after Korn the last act of the second day will be the metalworkers from Volbeat. The danish group link to a whole bunch of inspirations like country and blues, Social Distortion or Elvis Presley. You can witness the sound of this mixture on Sunday. ©Erik Weiss


With Social Distortion the source of inspiration itself takes the stage on the holiday. The cult band from Orange County presents the album "Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes" at Red Stage just ahead of legendary Iron Maiden. ©Iron Maiden

To conclude the day in an appropriate manner four guys from Armenia will come up who weren´t expected to play together again. After announcing a break in 2006, System Of A Down are gathering again on stage. There is no new album till now – but if the tour is a success, who knows. 50.000 fans will look after Serj Tankian and his friends. ©Sony Music
