81st Automobilsalon in Geneva shows the new realism of producers. 260 exhibitors present round 170 world- and european premieres. And all of them are quite near to serial production.

Suzuki shows the Swift S Concept, a sporty offshoot from the design presented last year. The Swift should link onto the results of the dynamic predecessors.
The car is based on the actual Swift, which got a facelift by the end of last year. A 1,6 liter engine moves the front wheels of the 3,89 meter long S-Concept. There were no more accurate information given by the producers – but what looks quite sure is that Suzuki is going to add some power.
The Toyota FT 86 – „FT“refers to Future Toyota – is a successor of MR2 and Celica. The 2+2-seater should hit the streets with 200hp.
According to the plans of the worlds biggest car producer the series production of the FT86 with a height of a mere 1,27 meters should start 2012.
Mazda brought the study Shinari to Geneva. Aerodynamics were the primary goal at the design of the car. The middle sector and the rear fenders optimize the air current at the underbody.
An office sparetime-cube with electric aggregates Nissan presented with the Townpod. With the engine of the Nissan Leaf – powered with 80kW and lasting for 160km - the Nissan Townpod almost moves perfectly silent.
A further step ahead to the future is BMW with the Vision Connected Drive Concept. The study connects comfort, infotainment and safety, knows the favourite music of the driver and communicates with other cars.
All this comes in style, of course: 20 inch-wheels, a new door concept and a mighty radiator are stuffed into the new BMW vision.
The all new cockpit operating concept with an enhanced head-up-display can illustrate information in 3d and integrate it into the real picture of the streets, it knows the drivers preferences and can search for the nearest parking space.
With the study Rocketman Mini – after Clubman and Countryman – goes back to the compact car-roots. With the new, puristic cockpit-concept and a new seating idea you can have quite a time in the only 3,70 meter long car. When there are three of you, at least.
Thanks to the consequent commitment to carbon the car will weigh underneath 1.000kg. And, according to the BMW-technicians, will not consume more than three liters. If it once hits the roads, that is.
The lightweight construction of the Audi A3 with a notchback is 4,44 meters long, 1,84 meters wide and only 1,39 meters high. Behind the singleframe radiator grill a 2,5 liter turbo powered engine brings 408hp to the wheels.

500 Nm at a torque between 1.600 und 5.300RPM. are the framework according to Ingolstadt. The car reaches 100km/h within a mere 4,1 seconds.
One of the brightest stars in Geneva is the 4C. Alfa held back all information about the car in front of the fair. The compact two-seater with 850kg comes with the 1750 engine known from the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. Serial production of the 4C should start in 2012.
Subaru brought the special edition XV of the Impreza to lake Geneva. Like the VW-suv modells the japanese compact car with four wheel drive comes with 150hp and starts at 24.500 EUR.
The Etheria from Infiniti is powered by a 2,5 liter V6-engine mit 245hp – next to a turbocharger also thanks to a hybrid engine.
The Etheria is not only a cherish for the eyes but also functional – regarding to the new door concept.
Hyundai brought the 4,20 meter long study Curb to Geneva. Empowered is the Curb with a 1,6 liter gasoline direct injection with 129 kW/175 hp. Thanks to a start-stop-automatism the car has a pretty small consumption within city traffic.
Nissan came up with a study of an electric sports car, the Esflow. The two-seater is driven by two electric engines placed at the rear wheels, which speed up up the car to 100km/h within five seconds.
In the Peugeot HR1 an all new evolution by the French producer is working: a three cylinder gasoline engine with 1200cc and round 110hp. With a combines 6-gear-automatic and an electric engine the mixture of city car, sedan and suv should consume only 3,5 liters on 100km.
Near to serial production is the Zoe from Renault. The compact electric car is the first auto from Renault, that comes with a complete emission free engine. The Zoe should hit the road in 2012 with 81hp.
4,22 meters long, 1,95 meters wide, 1,59 meters high, wheelbase 2,62 meter, 1.300kg weight, matt painted fenders and 22 inch wheels in contrast coating are the features of Renaults suv-study Captur.
The 1,6-liter-dCi-engine – the first four cylinder with a biturbo-charging from Renault – comes with 160hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm at 1750 RPM.
An old friend made a comeback in Geneva: VW came with a remake of the Bulli. The box wagon is stuffed with an all electric engine with 115hp and has, with his retro look, good chances for a serial production.
Rinspeed presented with the Bamboo a new study – like every year since 1992. The car, partly structured with bamboo fibre, drives with an electric engine and is probably the ideal car according to Greenpeace standards. The rims for the Bamboo came from Dotz-mother AEZ. The ignition key by the way has the form of a swiss knife.
