361 exhibitors showed 626 between fancy and omnipotent changing cars at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January 2011. 243.000 tuning-fans witnessed one of the biggest aftermarket-fairs in Asia. Dotz Mag was on location check.
More than 107.000 visitors came at the third day only and gathered in Tokyo Convention Center to see, what actually heats up japanese roads.
The biggest star and the one trade-car, which showed the tops of the tuning-parts in Japan, was the new Honda CR-Z.
Kansai-Service, workshop of japanese nobel-tuner HKS, trimmed the car with some well-known carbon-fiber parts while...
... the engine was stuffed with turbocharger, HKS cooling systems and other engine details.
J´s Racing Team showed his CR-Z with a customized chassis, a fiber glass bonnet, seats from Recaro and 18 inch wheels.
Tuning-producer Kakimoto also presented all his equipment for the Honda CR-Z.
Honda itself enobled the CR-Z under the name TS1X with a matt black finish, air dams, powertrains and spoiler.
But Honda offered also something for other sport-fans. This Freed Spike was developed as an outdoor-concept in corporation with Asics. The rear curtain provides space for a shower to go – so the car wants to attract camper and sport fans.
But camping and outdoor was, besides Honda, also at the...
...Suzuki booth a huge issue. The japanese VW-partner presented three different concepts of the Solio, each of them developed with a sport equipment producer. Next to X-Adventure also...
 ...French producer Salomon and..
...finnish sports parts producer Suunto made a corporation with Suzuki.
Local tuners transform their racing-designs into street art. Nissan-tuner Nismo showed, how the design of the Super GT series would look on an everyday car.
The Nissan Elgrand Nismo S Tune comes with an aero kit, 18 inch wheels and a special suspension kit – all this makes the Elgrand in this case a beast of a van.
Toyota luxury brand Lexus reflected the design of the LF-A racer, which is powered by more than 500hp,...
...with an IQ Racing concept. The compressor-powered 1,3 liter engine is said to reach far more than the original 98hp. If the IQ with a roll cage and customized chassis will hit the streets is not defined by now.
Subaru imposed the STI-concept onto a Trezia. While the engine still has the original 107hp, Subaru outfitted the van with an overall cladding, 18 inch wheels and a new chassis suspension.
Next to it the Impreza WRX STI came up with a long awaited notchback version with a huge rear wing. The four way-exhaust system takes care of a powerful heading with 320hp. Subaru will come back into the rallye-scene this year, providing some of its support to those, who partake in international rallies.
Subaru provided the audience at the Convention Center with a bright racing star as well. The Legacy B4 GT300 from the Super GT-series circles the circuits in Japan with a two liter turbo engine with more than 300hp and 392Nm. For 2011 Subaru announced that it will take part at the 24 hour race at Nürburgring.
But there are also european cars on japanese streets. Local tuner Newing showed his body parts of the Audi TT. The Alpil tuning parts consist of front wings, rear wings and customized exhaust systems.
Japanese tuning-specialist Hashimoto, reknown for customising european cars and also exclusive distributor for Dotz Tuning Wheels in Japan, brought a Mini Countryman with 20 inch wheels to Tokyo.
Hashimoto also showed a Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid in a modified version.
Neoteny made his debut in style at the Tokyo Autosalon 2011. They showed a Lamborghini Gallard, created by JOB Design.
Still a huge issue in Japan: tuned mini-vans, which still hit the streets in every possible and impossible colour, form and with some fancy tuning-parts.
Another art of tuning is asked if you want to join Club RH9. The club of „record holders“ is exclusive for workshops who tuned a Nissan GT-R to cover a distance of 400m within nine seconds.
Of course this awakens the ambitions. Workshops all over Japan match up for best performance.
To meet the RH9-criteria will definitely be no problem for this Blitz-equipped FR35 GT-R.
A double turbocharger with racing air system, a complete exhaust- and an entire engine-kit provides the GT-R with phenomenal 1.000hp.
Next to all this serious moving japanese tuning fans as every year show their freaky ideas. This for example is not a Panamera, but a Pana-Z; Fairydesign took the main frame of a Panamera convertible and put it on a Nissan 350Z. The 3,5 liter V6 engine executes 313hp.
A Nissan Fuga showed, that Manga-affine Japanese still print their favourite cartoon stars onto their cars.
And, for sure, Gals, Gals, Gals couldn´t be missing. At the Abarth-booth as well...
 ...as everywhere else of the...
... 200.000 squaremeters of Makuhari Convention Center.
